The ELS-1000 hardness testing machine is equipped with the latest control and measurement technology. The motorized test head and the stable test table area enable testing even on large and heavy test pieces. With the test method validated by ESI Prüftechnik GmbH for determining the hardening depth without destroying and without time-consuming preparation of the workpiece surfaces, short test times can be achieved to control the heat treatment process.

Special features
The ELS-1000 is used to carry out tests according to the Rockwell principle to determine the case hardening depth (CHD). However, test forces of 1839N and 9807N and an enlarged Rockwell diamond are used for this purpose. The indentation depths determined are converted into EHT results using a special table. The tables allow determination within the following limits:
EHT525 von 0,2 bis 1,5mm;
EHT550 von 0,19 bis 1,43mm;
EHT600 von 0,15 bis 1,3mm.
In principle, all workpieces that are accessible to normal Rockwell testing can be tested using this method. If the workpieces cannot be tested according to Rockwell due to their shape and dimensions, “accompanying pieces” must be added to the test piece series in the heat treatment process to enable testing.
Due to our unique validation for this test method, a DAkkS accredited calibration certificate can be issued by ESI Prüftechnik GmbH after installation of the machine.
